Dangerous rescue as man strips to save freezing dog

Dog walkers watched aghast when a man stripped down to his pants to crawl across a frozen river to save his dog. The man had to swim to safety after the ice gave way on the River Stour, near Dedham in Essex on Sunday morning. Follow the link for the full story:

Play was halted at Liverpool’s premiership game against Tottenham earlier this week when a cat strolled onto the pitch. The moggy quickly became an overnight celebrity and now has over 24,000 followers on twitter. The RSPB are running their Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend (28th/ 29th January). To take part, all you need to do is to tally the most number of each species you see in one hour in your garden or local park. Then submit your results! Then sit back and relax for an hour this Saturday or Sunday with your feet up, a cup of tea and your favourite biscuits!

Michel Andre’s site lets users access live sound feeds from Vancouver Island and 16 other ocean floor observatories around the world. Manmade or natural, the sound streams are an eerie experience.
