Leap year love . . .

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

As 29th February draws to a close for another four years, we thought ‘Animal weddings from around the world’ was a fun story to post with some amazing pictures. But in each case was it the male or the female who proposed?!

Little and Large!

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

This is 14 week old border collie pup Tess, who was in for a weight check this morning, saying hello to nurse Beccy’s four year old border collie Poppy in for a practice visit today. Tess still has some growing to do!

Guinea pigs in safe hands

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

This guinea pig was at 387 Vets this morning to have his teeth rasped. Whilst the majority of vets will anaesthetise guinea pigs before performing any dental procedures, Hamish has been performing much safer conscious dentals for over 10 years as guinea pigs have a high mortality rate under anaesthetic.

Imagine if we could teach our cats and dogs to do this!

Check out Einstein the parrot’s incredible repertoire: this week’s animal antics post. Favourites of ours are “call the dog”, the skunk impression and the Knoxville Zoo star’s response to a satisfying meal! For those of you who used to watch Sesame Street, can you spot The Count?!

It’s called Lupo!

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

After much speculation, the Duchess of Cambridge finally let slip the name of her new cocker spaniel puppy on a visit to Rose Hill Primary School in Oxford yesterday. Kate, who was in Oxford to promote The Art Room – a charity which encourages confidence in disadvantaged children – told a class she was going to name a cuddly dog she’d been given after her own puppy: Lupo, from the latin ‘lupus’ meaning wolf.

American Cocker in for surgery

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Lizzie joins us this morning for surgery on her cruciate ligament in her back leg. She is a beautiful example of an American Cocker Spaniel with a gorgeous thick coat. What a shame to have to shave some of her fur away for her op, but we hope it won’t be too long before it all grows back!

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Dog walkers watched aghast when a man stripped down to his pants to crawl across a frozen river to save his dog. The man had to swim to safety after the ice gave way on the River Stour, near Dedham in Essex on Sunday morning. Follow the link for the full story:
